Lake Como:

The lake is surrounded by numerous picnic locations, fascinating villages and gorgeous villas. You can hop from town to town around the lake and many of the lake cruise options that exist include entry to one or more villas, abbeys or gardens that surround the lake such as: Villa Serbolloni (on the site of Pliny the Younger’s Villa Tragedy); Villa Melzi – the neo-classical home of Napoleon’s man in Italy, Francesco Melzi d’Eril; Villa Carlotta ( which is sumptuously decorated, surrounded by landscaped gardens and strewn with art; or many many more.

The closest ferry terminal to Casa Leugh is at Colico (for Como) or Varrena (for Belaggio) – for details of the lake ferries and timetables please see this website
Bellagio in the middle of the three arms of the lake almost feels like an island as it’s just a ferry ride away from almost anywhere on the lake, and Caffe Rossi is handily located just across from the dock.
